Goochland - Community Overview

Welcome to Goochland!  Conveniently located 32 miles from Richmond and 40 miles from Charlottesville, Goochland is a picturesque county with rolling pastures while still being an easy commute.    For the outdoor enthusiasts, Goochland is home to three parks with playground equipment, walking trails and more. There is also Tucker Park which also includes a playground and walking trails, but also is located right on the James River.

Goochland County is home to several popular wineries and breweries.  The wineries include Byrd Cellars and Elk Island Wineries.  While the breweries of Lickinghole, Kindred Spirit and Midnight Brewery are also located in Goochland.

Goochland’s large property lots, proximity to major work hubs and recreation opportunities make it ideal for families.   Currently, the Goochland Public School system services  2500 students in its three elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, a specialty center, two governor’s schools, and an alternative school. The student to teacher ratios for grades K-5 are 18 to 1.
