A Community with Historic Roots redefined for the Future, Located in the heart of Downtown Powhatan
Just fifteen minutes from Route 288, our community is located in the Village of Powhatan and offers maintenance-free homes in an inviting setting...ideal for those seeking something more in an active over 55 and better community.
Scottville provides a welcoming place where you can come to regain a sense of neighborhood in our historic “Village”.
Today's Scottville is solidly rooted in the historic origins of Powhatan County. Scottville, the original name of the Courthouse Village, the County Seat of Powhatan County, was laid out by an Act of the General Assembly signed into law by Governor Patrick Henry in 1777.
Scottville came to be known as "Powhatan Courthouse" to avoid confusion with the town of Scottville in Albemarle County.
Over time, local residents came to refer to Scottville as simply the "Village". To this day, the village is located on historic Old Buckingham Road, a major route that dates back to pre-colonial days, and retains much of its early charm.
Scottville's connection with the village is not only found in its name, but also in the names selected for its streets and landmarks…….names that have been derived from persons/places important to Powhatan's past.
Homes with Distinctive Designs & Amenities Within Walking Distance
Scottville is reflective of many of the design elements which are native to the Village and to neighborhoods of the past. With each home being essentially unique and distinctive, Scottville's streetscapes evoke images of the neighborhoods in which we all grew up.
In addition to classic architectural features, Scottville's appeal includes one-floor living with inviting front porches, quiet streets with alleys that access each home, a beautifully landscaped park and plentiful walking paths.
